There was a great turnout for the opening of the Third Annual Art and Earth juried exhibit last night in Martinsburg. The exhibit, sponsored by the Berkeley Arts Council, is on display in the gallery space at The Arts Centre, located at 300 West King Street in Martinsburg. The exhibit is open Fridays 2-6pm, Saturdays 12-6pm, and Sundays, 12-3pm through May 11.

Ten awards were announced and certificates were presented to the artists who were present. The Best in Show award went to Cathy Wilkin of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia for her “June 14″ work in mixed media. A complete list of awards and participating artists is available on the Berkeley Arts Council website.

The reception was very well attended and included participating artists from Georgia and Tennessee.

The Third Annual Art and Earth Juried art exhibit opens Saturday, April 20 at The Arts Centre gallery with a reception from 5-7pm. The exhibit will show 40 works of art by artists from all around West Virginia and 11 other states. The exhibit will be on display in The Arts Centre, 300 West King Street in Martinsburg, through Saturday May 11. Gallery hours are: Friday 2-6, Saturday, 12-6, and Sunday 12-3.

The juror for this year’s exhibit is Dr. Geraldine Kiefer, Associate Professor of Art History at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.

The Berkeley Arts Council and The Redbrick Gallery in Martinsburg, West Virginia announce the Third Annual Art and Earth Juried Exhibit in Martinsburg. The exhibit will be on display at the Redbrick Gallery, 404 West King Street, Martinsburg, West Virginia from April 21 – May 11, 2013.

The exhibit, which will be produced by the Berkeley Arts Council, will have the theme “Art and Earth: My Art – My World” and entries should reflect the artist’s view of nature, the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme.

The exhibition is open to all visual artists over the age of 18 in all media. Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last three (3) years, and have not been previously exhibited in The Redbrick Gallery.

Holiday Art and Craft Market opens at 12 noon today
115 South Queen Street, Martinsburg

Eighteen local artists and artisans are represented in this, the third annual Holiday market. The store will be open Friday and Saturday from 12-7, Sunday 12-3, and Wednesday and Thursday from 12-6 (Closed Monday and Tuesday) through December 23.

The market is a collaboration of The Berkeley Arts Council in association with The Heritage Craft Center of the Eastern Panhandle and ArtBerkeley, Inc., all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. 80% of the sales proceeds is returned to the artists and artisans.

The Second Art and Earth Juried Exhibit opens with a reception from 5-7pm at The Arts Centre, 300 West King Street in Martinsburg.

More than 50 pieces are on display by artists from all over West Virginia and eight other states. The artwork includes paintings, photographs, mixed media and 3-D metal work.

The deadline for submissions to be postmarked for the Art and Earth Juried Exhibit has been extended one day, from February 20 to February 21. This is because when we set the deadline, we did not realize that next Monday, February 20 was the Presidents’ Day holiday and post offices will be closed.

Now we know that all of you artists never wait until the last minute, but just in case, you have one more day to get your entries together and in the mail.

3. Yes, four days.  Our hours will be Wed. and Thurs. 12 – 6 pm; Friday 12 to 8 pm and NEW! Saturday 10 to 2 for those who just couldn’t make up their mind earlier.  But that’s all for this year!

4. We don’t offer discounts on overpriced goods to sucker you in to the store.

5. No crowded aisles, no shopping carts, no mammoth parking lots jammed with cars.

6. But you might find a little music and a few cookies!

We hope to see you as we conclude our 2011 Holiday Art and Craft Market. We’re a half block from the town square, just across from the Santa House and the city parking lot.

Celebrate the holiday season at the Apollo!   “A Christmas Carol” is onstage and  beautiful seasonal art graces the lobby walls for your enjoyment.

The exhibit, arranged by the Berkeley Arts Council, includes work by Paul Berryhill who contributed three beautiful winter scenes with a wonderful sense of the season! Andrea Burke’s cheerful watercolors will warm your heart.  Photographer Fred Les adds three works that confess a unbridled talent for capturing nature’s beauty.

Learn more about each of the artists as you browse the show.  The theatre lobby is open at 7:00 Friday and Saturday, and at 1:30 on Sunday–and of course during the Christmas Carol intermission.  As you pick up your tickets for the production, you can also claim your Holiday Art and Craft Market Discount Card, offering 10% off one item at the Arts Council’s Market at 115 S. Queen Street, near the square.

Everyone’s beloved favorite Dr. Seuss stories are the basis for Musselman High’s production of Seussical, a Theatre for Young Audiences show. Adults love it as much as kids.  It’s on this weekend, Oct. 21 – 23 and you can read the details at www.musselmantheatre.com.  On Saturday, October 22 you can enjoy dinner and the show, if you get your tickets in advance! Theatre students have them, or email ahinwood@aol.com. Musselman High is just off Route 11 in Inwood. The production is presented by special arrangement with MTI.

The Jury Results are In!

Congratulations to the artists whose work was selected for the exhibit!

The Juror selected 36 works in a variety of media by 29 artists from around West Virginia and 4 other states. A list of the selected artists is listed on the Berkeley Arts Council web site.

The exhibit will be on display at The Arts Centre, 300 West King Street in Martinsburg, WV from April 8 through May 1, 2011. There will be an opening reception on April 8 from 5-7pm, with an awards presentation at 6pm

The Berkeley Arts Council is collaborating with The Arts Centre in Martinsburg, WV to produce this exhibit with the theme “Art and Earth: My Art – My World” as part of the city-wide “Art and Earth Celebration” that includes the “Art and Earth Festival produced by ArtBerkeley at War Memorial Park in Martinsburg.

The Juror for the exhibit was Susan Bloom, Professor and Chair of the Art and Art History Department of McDaniels College in Westminster, Maryland. Ms Bloom is an accomplished teacher, artist, photographer and author.

We hope that there will be a great turnout for the reception at The Arts Centre, Friday, April 8 from 5-7pm.
